Six Reasons Why Barack Obama Is the Worst President in History

By now youve probably heard of polls that say Americans believe that Donald Trump is the worst president in history or that presidential scholars have ranked Trump dead last. I can tell you right now to ignore the polls and the so-called experts. While it may be too early to properly gauge presidential rankings for recent presidents, I am confident that history will ultimately judge Barack Obama as the worst president our nation has ever seen.

The mountain of evidence that condemns his presidency to the bottom of the barrel is overwhelming. In my just re-released book, The Worst President in History: The Legacy of Barack Obama, I document 200 reasons why history will prove my belief correct in the years to come. Below, I present six abbreviated reasons, which, I cant stress enough, are just the tip of the iceberg.

6. Weaponizing the government against his enemies

Perhaps the most well-known example of the Obama administration abusing its power to target Obamas political enemies is the infamous IRS scandal. Over a two-year period leading up to the 2012 election, tea party groups and other conservatives were improperly scrutinized by the IRS. Twelve different IRS offices across the country were involved and the entire operation was orchestrated out of Washington, D.C., and there was also evidence of White House involvement. The IRS also targeted private individuals critical of Obama, GOP candidates, and Romney donors.

There are also examples of conservative individuals being targeted as the resultof gross abuse of power by the Obama administration. Conservative author Dinesh DSouza was indicted for campaign finance violations for a crime typically not prosecuted at all. James OKeefe of Project Veritas was put on a terrorism watchlist after a video was released of him dressed as a terrorist crossing back and forth over the U.S./Mexico border to demonstrate the lack of border security.

Obamas piece de resistance when it came to abuse of power is perhaps his spying on the Trump campaign. The Steele dossier on Trump (a partisan opposition research document funded by the DNC and the Hillary campaign loaded with loads of bogus and salacious accusations) was used to secure a FISA warrant to spy on the Trump campaign. Anti-Trump partisans were involved in the investigation, and based on text messages between investigators Peter Strzok and Lisa Page (who were having an affair) we know that Strzok saw the investigation as an insurance policy in case Trump won the election, and that Page, worried that Trump could win, was told by Strzok, No. No he won't. We'll stop it. Other text messages indicated that Obama wanted to be kept in the loop on their investigation. The independence and integrity of the FBI took a major blow during the Obama years, and were still learning just how bad it was.

The Office of Barack and Michelle Obama

As President Obama has said, the change we seek will take longer than one term or one presidency. Real changebig changetakes many years and requires each generation to embrace the obligations and opportunities that come with the title of Citizen.

True democracy is a project thats much bigger than any one of us. Its bigger than any one person, any one president, and any one government. Its a job for all ofus.

About President Barack Obama

Barack H. Obama is the 44th President of the United States.

Few presidents have walked a more improbable path to the White House. Born in Hawaii to a mother from Kansas and a father from Kenya, Obama was raised with help from his grandparents, whose generosity of spirit reflected their Midwestern roots. The homespun values they instilled in him, paired with his innate sense of optimism, compelled Obama to devote his life to giving every child, regardless of his or her background, the same chance America gave him.

After working his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans, Obama moved to Chicago, where he worked with a group of churches to help rebuild communities devastated by the closure of local steel plants. That experience honed his belief in the power of uniting ordinary people around a politics of purpose, in the hard work of citizenship, to bring about positive change. In law school, he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, then he returned to Illinois to teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago and begin a career in public service, winning seats in the Illinois State Senate and the United States Senate.

On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States, winning more votes than any candidate in history. He took office at a moment of crisis unlike any America had seen in decades a nation at war, a planet in peril, the American Dream itself threatened by the worst economic calamity since the Great Depression. And yet, despite all manner of political obstruction, Obamas leadership helped rescue the economy, revitalize the American auto industry, reform the health care system to cover another twenty million Americans, and put the country on a firm course to a clean energy future all while overseeing the longest stretch of job creation in American history. On the world stage, Obamas belief in Americas indispensable leadership and strong, principled diplomacy helped wind down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, decimate al Qaeda and eliminate the worlds most wanted terrorists, shut down Irans nuclear weapons program, open up a new chapter with the people of Cuba, and unite humanity in coordinated action to combat a changing climate.

In times of great challenge and change, President Obamas leadership ushered in a stronger economy, a more equal society, a nation more secure at home and more respected around the world. The Obama years were ones in which more people not only began to see themselves in the changing face of America, but to see America the way he always has as the only place on Earth where so many of our stories could even be possible.

Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, are the proud parents of two daughters, Malia and Sasha.

True leadership often happens with the smallest acts, in the most unexpected places, by the most unlikely individuals.

Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama is a lawyer, writer, and the wife of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. She was the first African-American First Lady of the United States. Through her four main initiatives, she has become a role model for women and an advocate for healthy families, service members and their families, higher education, and international adolescent girls education.

When people ask First Lady Michelle Obama to describe herself, she doesn't hesitate to say that first and foremost, she is Malia and Sasha's mom.

But before she was a mother or a wife, lawyer, or public servant she was Fraser and Marian Robinson's daughter. The Robinsons lived in a brick bungalow on the South Side of Chicago. Fraser was a pump operator for the Chicago Water Department, and despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at a young age, he hardly ever missed a day of work. Marian stayed home to raise Michelle and her older brother Craig, skillfully managing a busy household filled with love, laughter, and important life lessons.

A product of Chicago public schools, Michelle Robinson studied sociology and African-American studies at Princeton University. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1988, she joined the Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin, where she later met Barack Obama, the man who would become the love of her life.

After a few years, Mrs. Obama decided her true calling was working with people to serve their communities and their neighbors. She served as assistant commissioner of planning and development in Chicago's City Hall before becoming the founding executive director of the Chicago chapter of Public Allies, an AmeriCorps program that prepares youth for public service.

In 1996, Mrs. Obama joined the University of Chicago with a vision of bringing campus and community together. As Associate Dean of Student Services, she developed the university's first community service program, and under her leadership as Vice President of Community and External Affairs for the University of Chicago Medical Center, volunteerism skyrocketed.

Mrs. Obama has continued her efforts to support and inspire young people during her time as First Lady.

Job Well Done: 44 Things President Barack Obama Accomplished

As President Obama embarks on his farewell tour of his last year in office, what more can we say about this great man? He is the the first Black president and has accomplished a lot despite opposition, severe national issues, and blatant racism.

Besides being the only president to issue reform on same sex marriage, create the affordable healthcare act forbidding insurance agencies to deny people because of age or condition, reduced the unemployment rate the the lowest its been in over 11 years, gas prices are at an all time lowhes done all of this while alsoavoiding scandal. In fact, according to the Washington Post, Obama has served longer than any president in decades without a scandal, as measured by the appearance of the word scandal (or lack thereof).

And now in 2016, President Obama has made history again:To date, President Obama has granted 562 commutations: more commutations than the previous nine presidents combined and more commutations than any individual president in nearly a century. Of those, 197 individuals were serving life sentences. That 214 grants of commutation were all for non-violent offenses and also represent the most grants in a single day since at least 1900. For 67 of those 214, the clemency is extra special because they would have died in prison as they had a sentence of life without parole.

This is a country that believes in second chances. So weve got to make sure that our criminal justice system works for everyone, President Obama wrote in a Facebook post.

From the lowest uninsured rate on record to 70 straight months of private-sector job growth, this country has come a long way in the past seven years. Now, here are 44 OTHER things that the 44th President of the United States has accomplished during his tenure:

1. Passed Health Care Reform: After five presidents over a century failed to create universal health insurance, signed the Affordable Care Act (2010). It will cover 32 million uninsured Americans beginning in 2014 and mandates a suite of experimental measures to cut health care cost growth, the number one cause of Americas long-term fiscal problems.

2. Passed the Stimulus: Signed $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009 to spur economic growth amid greatest recession since the Great Depression. Weeks after stimulus went into effect, unemployment claims began to subside. Twelve months later, the private sector began producing more jobs than it was losing, and it has continued to do so for twenty-three straight months, creating a total of nearly 3.7 million new private-sector jobs.

3. Passed Wall Street Reform: Signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (2010) to re-regulate the financial sector after its practices caused the Great Recession. The new law tightens capital requirements on large banks and other financial institutions, requires derivatives to be sold on clearinghouses and exchanges, mandates that large banks provide living wills to avoid chaotic bankruptcies, limits their ability to trade with customers money for their own profit, and creates the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (now headed by Richard Cordray) to crack down on abusive lending products and companies.

4. Ended the War in Iraq: Ordered all U.S. military forces out of the country. Last troops left on December 18, 2011.

5. Drawdown of War in Afghanistan: From a peak of 101,000 troops in June 2011, U.S. forces are now down to 30,000.

6. Eliminated Osama bin laden: In 2011, ordered special forces raid of secret compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in which the terrorist leader was killed and a trove of al-Qaeda documents was discovered.

7. Turned Around U.S. Auto Industry: In 2009, injected $62 billion in federal money (on top of $13.4 billion in loans from the Bush administration) into ailing GM and Chrysler in return for equity stakes and agreements for massive restructuring. Since bottoming out in 2009, the auto industry has added more than 100,000 jobs. In 2011, the Big Three automakers all gained market share for the first time in two decades.

8. Recapitalized Banks: In the midst of financial crisis, approved controversial Treasury Department plan to lure private capital into the countrys largest banks via stress tests of their balance sheets and a public-private fund to buy their toxic assets. Got banks back on their feet at essentially zero cost to the government.

9. Repealed Dont Ask, Dont Tell: Ended 1990s-era restriction and formalized new policy allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military for the first time.

10. Toppled Moammar Gaddafi: In March 2011, joined a coalition of European and Arab governments in military action, including air power and naval blockade, against Gaddafi regime to defend Libyan civilians and support rebel troops. Gaddafis forty-two-year rule ended when the dictator was overthrown and killed by rebels on October 20, 2011. No American lives were lost.

11. Reversed Bush Torture Policies: Two days after taking office, nullified Bush-era rulings that had allowed detainees in U.S. custody to undergo certain enhanced interrogation techniques considered inhumane under the Geneva Conventions. Also released the secret Bush legal rulings supporting the use of these techniques.

Can you list the good things Barack Obama did during his time as president?
I don't think Obama was the Best President Ever, but I think history will see him as a tree between two stunted shrubs. For decades politics in the US has been run in a way to keep anything at all from getting done. Considering that Obama had a hostile Republican Congress for most of his time in office, he accomplished an amazing amount.

There's a list here:

I could just repeat those but instead I'll list my own favorites.

Health care is the biggest, something almost every president since Nixon had tried and failed. I think that's what he'll be mostly known for, even though the next Democratic president will probably replace Obamacare with something better (there's certainly room for improvement!)

Obama healed the economy almost immediately in the worst recession since the 1930s. If you want to be an Obama-booster, you could say he doubled the value of the stock market in 2 years. If you want to be more objective, you could say that the stock market had LOST half its value and Obama quickly restored it, then it went even higher. Would it have come back under President McCain? Maybe, but not nearly as quickly, plus McCain would have wanted to fix it by throwing money at Wall Street.

Obama (and Clinton) made good on two huge REPUBLICAN promises, promises the Republicans themselves never delivered on. He cut budget deficits by >50%, AND he gave the middle class a tax cut!

And the last one on the Wash. Monthly list is also important to me. Obama was the last president since Eisenhower who never had a big personal scandal. The Republicans accused him of every crime they could think of, but they couldn't make one single charge stick!
