Whats The Difference Between A 4.0 & 4.6? ??
(answer at the end of the article)

Not everyone gets an opportunity to collaborate with the Goat. But, if you are lucky enough to get yourself a feature with Jay Z, then just know that you can expect a fire verse 99.9% of the time.

So what do the top 10 Jay Z features look like? And who has the best Jay Z feature of all time?

Well, we have answers for those questions. But before we get into those answers, lets breakdown the qualifications for the list.

Qualifications/Exclusions

To make this a fair and honest list, some rules had to be made.

The song must feature Jay Z plus the original artist. It can be a regular straight-up feature or a remix to a song, but the song cannot only have Jay Z.

1) None of Jay Zs Own Songs This goes without saying. If the song was made by Jay Z, then it doesnt count. This list is only for Jay Z features.

2) No Joint Albums You wont see songs from Best of Both Worlds, Watch The Throne or EVERYTHING IS LOVE because those technically dont count as Jay Z features they are joint Jay Z albums.

3) No Entire Song Remixes If Jay Z remixed the entire song of another artist, it doesnt count. So you wont see anything from the S. Carter Collection.

Now that the rules are clear, lets start off by looking at some honorable mentions.

Lets dive in!

Honorable Mention

Biking Frank Ocean ft. Jay Z & Tyler The Creator

Biking is a VERY Underappreciated Hov Feature.

This is likely because Jays voice has a somewhat muffled effect going on. Regardless, what makes Biking such a low-key-great feature is that Jays flow is conversational. His voice stays at low tone throughout most of his verse as he switches up his flow. On top of that, Hov showcases his BMX vocabulary.

Notable Lines

Audemars before all of yalls
Wristwatch got a Russian face like an oligarch

Nigel Sylvester with these bike flips
Thats a full cab and a back flip

Jay Z Biking

Honorable Mention

Hustlin Remix Rick Ross ft. Jeezy & Jay Z

Rick Ross is Lucky.

Not only can Rick Ross get a Hov feature whenever he needs, but he already has several Hov verses that are arguably all classics. Jay Zs opening line on Hustlin might be one his very best openers ever. Hustlin gets an honorable mention because besides a great opening line, the rest of Jays verse is rather lackluster.

Notable Lines

Ninety-nine problems prick, dont
become the hundreth one

Jay Z Hustlin Remix

Honorable Mention

Dont Kill My Vibe Kendrick Lamar ft. Jay Z

The Thumbnail Perfectly Describes This Track.

Kobe (Kendrick Lamar) andJordan (Jay Z) go bar-for-bar on a record together. When Kendrick dropped Dont Kill My Vibe, it was the song of the summer for 2013. Kendricks Good Kid, M.A.A.D City had just gone platinum and to throw a cherry on top, Jay Z gave K. Dot a feature. Jay Z is came correct and delivered BARS to match Kendricks hard-hitting flow.

Notable Lines

Sittin next to Hillary smellin like dank
Presidental pardon, name one n*gga out there harder than him
Ill wait

Jay Z Dont Kill My Vibe Remix

Final Honorable Mention

I Do Young Jeezy ft. Jay Z & Andre 3K

Versatility Versatility Versatility.

Jay Zs verse on I Do shows how effortlessly Jay can flip words. Beginning with the opening line: Jay breaks down the word do into letters d-o. Takes the OH sound and flips it into a know. Normally, the words do and know dont rhyme, but Hov makes them go together with ease.

Notable Lines

Lifes a bitch but shes the only love that I know -oh -oh

Jay Z I Do

10Mr. Carter Lil Wayne ft. Jay Z

Great Moment for Hip Hop.

Mr. Carter remains a great moment for hip hop because Jay Z literally passed the torch to Lil Wayne on this track. Lets remember, in 2008, Lil Wayne was the BIGGEST name in music. So much so many considered Wayne to become Jays successor as the best rapper in hip hop.

Notable Lines

Young Carter, go farther, go further, go harder
Is that not why we came? And if not, then why bother?

Jay Z Mr. Carter

9I Love The Dough Notorious B.I.G. ft. Jay Z

90s Hov.

I Love The Dough is an absolute classic song between Jay Z and the late-great B.I.G.. This song exemplifies what golden-era rap was all about. For someone unfamiliar with Jays rapping from the 90s, this is a great place to start. Youll notice Jay sounds different, but his flow is timeless.

Notable Lines

You cats is home, screamin the fights on
Im in the fifteen hundred seats, watchin Ty-son

Jay Z I Love The Dough

8Shiny Suit Theory Jay Electronica ft. Jay Z

Lyrical Exercise.

Lets unpack Jays verse: Hov is rapping from the viewpoint of a person talking to his therapist. Jays therapist tells him that he crossed the line between real life and and fantasy. Jay continues to tell the therapist his goals of wanting to become successful rapper, but the therapist only dismisses his claims. Many witty bars later, the therapist finally prescribes Jay some Prozac (lol).

This is just one of those songs where you have to read the lyrics and listen to the song multiple times to really get the full picture. Its that unique.

Notable Lines

Boy, you must be off your rocker if you think youll make it off
The strip before they Pac ya,

You totally disconnected with reality, dont believe in dreams
Since when did black men become kings?

Jay Z Shiny Suit Theory

7Young Jeezy Seen It All ft. Jay Z

An Updated 10 Crack Commandments

Jeezy famously said Jay Z had tears in his eyes when he wrote his verse for Seen It All. And that type of emotion is shows within his lines. Hov primarily raps about the influences and sacrifices that drugs had on his father, his friends and himself. Real shit here.

Notable Lines

Gave my life to the block
Figured I get shot, least I die on top (real shit)

Jay Z Seen It All

6Is That Your Chick Memphis Bleek ft. Jay Z, Missy Elliot

Jay Z absolutely SPAZZED on this one ??

Hov was in rare form with his verse on Is That Your Chick. For this track, Jay reverted back to his 90s fast-flow and proceeded to slaughter everything in sight. Primarily rapping about, well, your chick and how he doesnt love her like you do (sorry bud ?????>?). If youre looking for a track where Jay Z absolutely goes crazy on, this is the one.

Notable Lines

I got your chick up in my Rover, man
I never kiss her, I never hold her hand
In fact I diss her, Im a bolder man

Jay Z Is That Your Chick?

53 Kings Rick Ross ft. Jay Z & Dr. Dre

Remember When I Said Ross Was Lucky?

Heres another truly great Jay Z feature that Rick Ross has to his name. 2012 was the year Jays first daughter, Blue Ivy was born. With that, Jay takes some time to reflect on his accolades, how he still has hood tendencies, and how Blue Ivys room is better than yours. All of it is top-notch, grade: A, rapping from Jay.

Notable Lines

Screamin carpe diem until Im a dead poet
Robin Williams shit, I deserve a Golden Globe bitch

Jay Z 3 Kings

4So Appalled Kanye West ft. Pusha T, Jay Z, SiHi The Prynce

So Appalled was like the All-Star Game for lyricists.

This is a track full of rap heavyweights in: Kanye West, JayZ, Pusha T and writer CyHi The Prynce. So it was only fitting that everyone had to bring BARS to the table. Pusha T bodied his verse on this track. But, in typical Jay Z fashion, Hov had to set the record straight. Hov was really on his bull-ish with this one, and nobody was safe. Hov sends shots to ALL of his haters within the music industry. Even MC Hammer?? caught a bar from Jay ?????>?. Apparently, Hov can touch that (pause*).

Notable Lines

Im fresher than you all, so I dont have to pause
All of yall can suck my balls through my drawers

I lost 30 mil, so I spent another 30
Cause unlike Hammer, thirty million cant hurt me

Jay Z -So Appalled

3Diamonds From Sierra Leone Remix Kanye West ft. Jay Z

The Dynasty Continues.

By the mid 2000s, Rocafella had very publicly fallen out, and Kanye West sided with Jay Z over Dame Dash. Diamonds From Sierra Leone is both Kanye West and Jay Z addressing the fallout. There are soo many quotable lines from Jay on this one. No filler lines. No weak bars. No lazy flows. Hov just causally letting the world know that even though Rocafella was behind him, the diamond still lives. ??

Notable Lines

Im not a businessman, Im a business, man
Let me handle my business, damn!

People lined up to see the titanic sinking, instead we rose from the ash like a phoenix

2Drug Dealers Anonymous Pusha T ft. Jay Z

This Is What Happens When An Unstoppable Force Meets An Immovable Object.

Drug Dealers Anonymous could easily serve as Pusha Ts best song AND Jays best feature verse. Yeah, its really THAT good. Blow talk is what Pusha T does best. Selling blow is how Jay Z ended up losing 93 bricks. Put them together and you get the best drug dealing hip-hop track of all time. Boom.

Notable Lines

Bitch I been brackin since the 80s, Google me baby, you crazy?

14-year drug dealer and still counting
Who deserves the medal of freedom is my accountant

Jay Z -Drug Dealers Anonymous

1Pound Cake Drake ft. Jay Z

Everything.

Jay Zs Pound Cake verse embodies everything that makes Hov different from other rappers. Not sure if any of you are familiar with Dragon Ball Super, but in the show, Goku achieves this state called ultra instinct and it allows him to take action without thinking. Thats the best comparison I can make to represent Jay Z on this track totally unconscious. Its flawless: bars, cadence, flow, couplets, all done in effortless fashion. Simply put, this is Jay Z at his very best.

Notable Lines

I had Benzs before you had braces

All black Maybach, but Im not a racist, insides whiter than Katy Perrys face is, yellow diamonds in my Jesus

The homie said Hov, there aint many of us
I told him less is more, n*gga its plenty of us

Jay Z, Pound Cake

Summary

Hear Frank Ocean's New Song 'Biking,' Featuring Jay Z And Tyler, The Creator

toggle caption Jason Merritt/Getty Images

Frank Ocean's show on Beats 1, Blonded, has become a testing ground for new singles. First it was his collaboration with Calvin Harris and Migos, "Slide," then in mid-March, the gauzy "Chanel" rendered in several different versions throughout the set.

On Friday night, Ocean spun music from Patti LaBelle, Babyface, Young Thug and Death Grips. You can listen to the third episode here.

At the close of that most recent show, Ocean shared the acoustic-led "Biking." For the opening minute, Jay Z raps over washed-out lounge piano it's a disorienting space for Hova, but a reflective one. Tyler, The Creator shows up in the back half when the beat drips like glue. But after a relatively mellow build, Frank Ocean suddenly bursts in the final verse of "Biking" with some wild vocalizing straight out of Young Thug.
