Dolly Parton is an American singer-songwriter, actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian, boasting a hugely successful career!

Her career began as a child performer, recording a few singles aged just 13 and, indeed, her first commercial successes were as a songwriter. She would later be the face of country music, appearing on all the go-to television shows worldwide.

Dolly is the most honored female country performer of all time. She holds the record for a female artist for the number of songs to reach the Billboard Country charts, at a staggering 25!

Achieving 25 RIAA certified gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards, she has 41 career top 10 country albums, a record for any artist, and she has 110 career charted singles over the past 40 years!

GAC honors Dolly Parton with 'Backstory' special episode
Parton just wrapped up her successful world tour, and her latest album, Blue Smoke – The Best Of, is her highest-charting CD to date. This one-hour special episode, which airs on August 29 at 5 p.m. EST, celebrates Parton, as one of the genre's best-loved and iconic artists. It chronicles her humble beginnings in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, all the way to the Grand Ole Opry stage, which may seem to some like a real-life fairy-tale. In 1999, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. As Digital Journal reported, Parton received a special plaque which commemorated her sales of 100 million albums worldwide. She has earned seven Grammy awards, 10 Country Music Association (CMA) awards, five Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards, and she is one of only six female country singers to be crowned "Entertainer of the Year" by the Country Music Association (CMA). Aside from her musical career, Parton is a well-rounded entertainer, whose talents include acting, best-selling author, philanthropist, as well as business-woman.
